Frequently asked questions
Does the counter include spaces and punctuation?
Yes. You get characters with and without spaces as separate numbers, plus word, sentence and paragraph counts and an estimated reading time — so a tweet, a caption or an essay chapter can all be checked against a limit precisely.
Is my text uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. Counting happens inside your browser as you type; the text never travels to a server, is never saved, and disappears when you close the tab. That also makes it safe to paste confidential drafts, legal text or unreleased copy.
Will it count words the same way as Word or Google Docs?
It follows the same convention — words are split on whitespace, so contractions and hyphenated terms count as one word. Exotic inputs such as emoji or unspaced CJK text can differ slightly from desktop apps, but everyday prose matches.
