Redact PDF

Permanently black out names, numbers and any sensitive text before sharing a document — redaction happens locally in your browser.

Black out names, account numbers, addresses and other sensitive information before a document leaves your hands. Drag rectangles over the content you want hidden — on whichever pages need it — and the exported PDF shows solid black boxes over those areas. The entire redaction workflow happens locally, so the unredacted original never leaves your device.

How to use Redact PDF

  1. Upload the PDF you need to redact.
  2. Navigate to each page that contains sensitive content.
  3. Drag rectangles directly over the text or numbers you want blacked out.
  4. Apply the redactions and download the marked-up copy to share.

Frequently asked questions

Is the redacted content hidden in the shared file?

The black boxes are part of the exported page, so the covered areas cannot be seen, printed or screenshotted from the document your recipient receives. For documents where confidentiality is critical, double-check the output before sending — and remember the tool only redacts what you cover.

Can I redact more than one page?

Yes. Redactions are applied per page: black out everything on the first page, move to the next, and continue until every sensitive area is covered. Pages you leave untouched pass through unchanged.

Where does my document go during redaction?

Nowhere. Pages are rendered, marked and re-exported entirely inside your browser — the original file and your redacted copy both stay on your machine. That matters most for exactly the documents this tool exists for: the ones you cannot risk exposing.
